Delay in Membership Renewal Letters

From: 2014-11-05

Due to the sudden resignation of a long time staff member at the CCA, this year's membership renewal letters were delayed by a couple months. Our plan was to send the letters out at the beginning of August but the shake up in operations delayed the mailing until the beginning of October.

While the timing of the renewal letters typically is not an issue, it created an issue this year because the letters included information about the TABA reunion that was being held in September. We posted news about the reunion on our Facebook page and on the TABA website over the summer. But given that we still lack email addresses for a large portion of former bandsmen, we were relying on the renewal letters to get the word out to the masses. We received comments from many of you expressing your disappointment in getting the information about the reunion after the fact.

I want to apologize for this error and let you know we are working on a solution to communicate with our membership more frequently to make sure this does not happen again. We are currently looking for a person to serve in a Communications Director role for the TABA. This person's sole responsibility would be to provide timely and pertinent information to our membership. If you would be willing to help out in this role or know of someone who would be a good candidate, please email us with that information at taba@tabaonline.com.

I also would appreciate your help in reaching out to your classmates to make sure they are signed up to receive our email newsletters. We still send out the membership letters via snail mail every year, but our main method of communication is online via our website, Facebook page and email. Please forward this message to your classmates and let them know they can get on our email list by sending their contact info to taba@tabaonline.com.

Sincerely,
Chris Sullivan '98
President, TABA
